About

My love of reading good books

I love reading books by the Puritans. They have a very deep understanding of the broken relationship between God and man and the restoration of the condition through the means provided by God himself. Jesus died in the place of believers.

  • These people are counted justified before the court system of a holy God.
  • Christ’s righteousness is imputed to the believer so that they have a perfect obedience.

In light of these things, the puritan faith, sometimes called the reformed faith, is the most rational worldview and belief system of all systems.

In the totally depraved condition of man in sin and because of his sinfulness, there is no method by which man can go to God and fix his failed condition, therefore, God does not only provide the aforementioned salvation payment, but also provides the means by which the person can embrace this truth. Faith is given to the person so that he will be able to believe in these truths. A person is a believer in the truths of God’s will as revealed in the Bible and his life is slowly transformed to a life that is pleasing to the site of God. The believer is now resolved to living a life that is holy and separate and desires to devote all his life to the service of the will of God, to glorify him and to enjoy him forever.

My hobby in narration

I have a deep voice, and I know that a lot of radio announcers and narraters like James Earl Jones, are sought for their deep voices. This is a bit of an imbalance with me as my pronunciation is not the best in the world. I have a very weak ‘TH’ sound that sometimes sounds like ‘D’ instead. You’ll notice it when I say the word ‘THE’ and other words that have the ‘TH’ sound.

In case you are wondering, as I have been asked atleast twice before, no I do not read these sections of books in one sitting. I record through the week little portions here and there, 10 minutes here, and 10 minutes there. I’ll usually take Saturday to sit down and edit them down, getting rid of extra spaces and erasing mistakes and splicing in the respective correction recorded on a separate track. A week’s worth of recording and editing work equals one full 10 minute recording. The reason for this is all the mistakes that I make with reading. The puritan books will sometimes contain very complicated words and wording structures which will make me stop mid-sentence many times. I remember beginning one book that I had read a couple of years prior that I wanted to bring to youtube. This book by Owen was so difficult to read that I had to stop and scrap the project. I may take up that book again, but that book really should be read for one’s self, not read by an amateur like myself.

I do not record the whole book as I want people to read it for themselves. The reason why I record these are to give a taste of the book, which in turn will pursuade you by its content on its own. I will usually pick a section that is interesting but not the full application of the book. I do not keep the recordings, after I post them on YouTube, I just get rid of the original so I am sorry to those that have asked for an mp3. I do not do this for payment that is why I do not see the need to keep these.

I prefer to read books concerned with either the reformed faith, or by authors who are known as being of the reformed faith. This is because I believe the reformed faith is as close as you can get to biblical truth. Please comment your thoughts and let me know what you think.
